This Virginia native belongs in woodland settings (under the canopy of large shade trees), with some direct sun. Spring interest is the long branching clusters of white fragrant flowers, and in the Fall into Winter the foliage turns scarlet & crimson shades. Give a light pruning in late Spring after the flowers are gone to produce more branching and a fuller plant. Can grow to over 5′ if left unpruned, plant this wide branching beauty at least 5′ from it’s neighbor.
