Truckloads of deciduous trees and shrubs have been arriving as we gear up for spring, and our farms are full of annuals growing and getting ready for the season ahead.

We’re also expanding our deciduous tree and shrub area at our Midlothian location, which will be finished just in time for spring with an even bigger selection to explore.

This project started with a sloped edge of the yard that had multiple elevations and drainage challenges. Our team designed and installed a custom paver patio that works with the grade while creating a clean, functional outdoor space.

The result is more usable space and a polished patio area that fits naturally into the landscape.

This space needed more than a simple refresh. It needed a complete structural and functional upgrade. 🧱✨

This project started with the removal of a failing patio that no longer functioned for the space. From there, our team expanded the footprint to create a larger, more usable outdoor living area designed for gathering and flow.

We constructed a new landing to connect two separate entry points, improving accessibility and circulation throughout the space. Seat walls were built to define the patio’s outer boundary while also adding built in seating for entertaining.

For materials, the seat walls and landing border were finished in brick to complement the home’s exterior, while the patio field features a neutral gray blended paver for a clean, timeless look.

A functional upgrade, a design upgrade, and a major improvement in how this space can now be enjoyed. 🌿

Winter is prime time for strategic pruning and our

Winter is prime time for strategic pruning and our team is in full garden mode. ✂️🌿

At the garden center, we’re currently pruning:
• Deciduous trees to improve structure and remove crossing branches
• Ornamental shrubs to encourage fuller spring growth

Why prune in winter? Plants are dormant, which means less stress, better visibility of branch structure, and a stronger flush of growth once spring hits.

Advice from our managers:
✔ Cut back to an outward-facing bud to shape properly
✔ Sanitize pruners between plants
✔ Don’t over-prune early bloomers before they flower

Pruning isn’t just maintenance. It’s plant health, structure, and setting the stage for an incredible spring season.
