Also known as Star Cactus.  Identified by its ribbed structure that has a star like appearance, this plant requires plenty of direct sunlight.  Plant in well draining sandy soil.  Let it dry out completely then give it a good soaking allowing it to drain completely.  Never allow it to sit in water which could cause root rot.  Slow grower, one to three years to maturity.
